Explorers Fall To Dayton 79-75

Dayton led from start to finish and held off a late La Salle comeback to defeat the Explorers 79-75.  6'9" center Matt Kavanaugh had his way inside against La Salle, scoring 23 points and grabbing 9 rebounds while converting 13 out of 14 foul shots.  The Flyers build an 11 point halftime lead and seemed to have the game in hand when La Salle went on a late run, getting within 78-75 with just under 2 minutes to go.

The Explorers had the ball down three with 28 seconds to go, but could not convert on a three point attempt by Sam Mills with 9 seconds left.  Dayton rebounded and La Salle was forced to foul with Josh Parker making one of two shots for the final margin.

La Salle had four players in double figures, led by Earl Pettis' 19 points.  Also scoring in double figures were Ramon Galloway (18), Sam Mills (17), and Tyreek Duren (13).  Steve Zack pulled down a career high 8 rebounds for the Explorers.  Also in double figures for Dayton was Luke Fabrizius with 14 points.
